When to go
Best time to visit Thailand
Thailand's seasons differ between the Andaman coast, the Gulf islands and the north. Here is how to pick dates that match your plan.
November to February
The most comfortable overall window: cooler, drier and best for Bangkok, Phuket, Krabi and Chiang Mai together.
It is also the busiest period, so hotels and island tours should be confirmed early.
March to May
Hot across the country. Beaches are still enjoyable and prices soften, but sightseeing days should be planned for mornings and evenings.
Northern Thailand can have haze in March and April.
June to October
Green season on the Andaman coast with short heavy showers rather than all-day rain. Good value on resorts.
The Gulf islands, including Koh Samui, follow a different pattern and are often pleasant during these months.
